We are pleased to announce that we have secured a bigger venue to better facilitate the over-crowded 7-9pm classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Beginning 7th November 2017 (next week), these two sessions will take place at Treadwell Street Hall, Treadwell Street, Naenae. See the map below. Please note that all other classes will still be held at Fraser Park Grandstand at normal times.
Please send us an email at huttvalleyfencing@gmail.com so that we have a record of who has received this notice.
A big thanks to Bea for all her effort in securing this fantastic new venue for the club!
We are missing a large amount of club equipment from the armoury. Can everyone please check your gear bags, at home and at the clubrooms, and return any gear that belongs to the club. There is a large amount of bodywires and weapons missing, and this shortage means some people have been unable to fence, so please make sure to do this as soon as possible!
If you find any other gear that does not belong to you, return this to the clubrooms as well, so it can be reunited with its owner. A number of fencers are missing their personal equipment, which may have accidentally found it’s way into someone else’s bags. If you ensure that the gear room is kept clean and tidy, this is much less likely to be a problem.
Wellington Swords Club is hosting the 2017 Central Secondary School Novice Foil Competition on 28th October at Wellington High School.
This competition is for any current intermediate or high-school fencers, who have been fencing for less than two years. This is a fantastic opportunity to put into practice what you have been learning at the club, and gain more experience by fencing people who you may not get the opportunity to regularly fence with.
If you need to borrow equipment for this competition, make sure to arrange this one week before the competition.
Full details and entry form can be found here: Central Secondary Schools Novice Entry
We will be back at the clubrooms this Tuesday (10th Oct) from 6.30pm till 8.30pm. This is to provide the opportunity for you to complete preliminary gear checks, and arrange borrowing equipment, in the lead up to the Central Open competition this weekend. There will also likely be the opportunity for some self-managed free play.
If you are intending to compete, get in quick as spaces are limited to 20 per weapon. Details can be found here: Central Open October.
