Victoria University is hosting the upcoming fencing Trefoil competition that is happening the weekend of the 23rd of February. The details are as follows.

Key Information

Date:Saturday 24th February to Sunday 25th February
Venue:Main gym, Victoria University Recreation Centre, Kelburn Parade, Wellington
Entry fee:$30.00 for one event, $40.00 for 2+ events.
Entries due:Thursday 22nd February. Payments on the day must be in cash.

Wellington Swords Club and Fencing Central invite you to attend the 2nd Fencing Central Secondary School Novice Competition 2023 on Saturday 9th September and the 3rd Fencing Central Under 11 and Under 13 Competition 2023 on Sunday 10th September.

Entry fee:$20.00 for one event, $30.00 for 2+ events.
Entries due:Entries are due by Thursday 7th September. Late entries will be accepted at the discretion of the tournament organiser.

Eligibility:

Secondary School Novice is open to any fencer who is in Year 7 – 13 at school with less than 24 months experience in fencing.
Under 11 is open to any fencer aged 10 or younger on January 1st 2023.
Under 13 is open to any fencer aged 12 or younger on January 1st 2023.

Time Table

Secondary School Novice will be one round of Pools followed by a Direct Elimination round.

Under 11 and Under 13 may be two rounds of Pools or one round of Pools followed by a Direct Elimination round, the format will be clarified to fencers during registration.

Weapons: Size 5s are allowed for Secondary School, Max size 3 for Under 13, and Size 2 for Under 11

*Foil doesn’t require breeches for any event. Please ensure that you are wearing track pants – No shorts or bare skin will be allowed at all.

For those who have been fencing with us for a while or are new to the club, it is time to re-register with us for 2023.

Please note the changes to the fee structure for this year. All term memberships have increased by $10 this year and annual memberships have increased by $40 this year.

URGENT HELP NEEDED FOR THE SETUP ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON

AND WEAPONS CONTROL AFTER THAT for those that are able to stay and help or can’t be there earlier:

Anyone that can give up a few hours to help setup on Friday after 3pm at Wellington High would be appreciated. We need about 4 club members

Weapons control places are URGENTLY needed to be filled on FRIDAY EVENING

Weapons Control on Saturday Morning and afternoon

Weapons Control on Sunday Morning till 11.30am

Café running on Sunday Morning 8.00am till 12.00 noon and 12.00 noon till 4.000pm

Up Coming Fencing Competitions

North Island Championship

We have the North Island Championships coming up soon in June. This competition would be suitable for our older fencers who have been fencing a while and are quite confident with their fencing. This is because this is one of the National Tournaments.

Under 11 & Under 13 #2 Competition

Hopefully you have just seen my email about the North Island Championships. For our U13 club members, we do have a competition coming up in June as well. It will take place on Sunday the 12th of June.

The Central U11 & U13 #2 competition info can be found here. This is being hosted by one of the other Wellington regional fencing clubs Wellington Swords at their Brooklyn Club Rooms. This competition will be suitable for all of our fencers that are over the age of 7.
