We would like to formally announce the Baby Champagne competition for 2022. We host this competition annually and we would like to invite our members to compete and assist with the day’s proceedings. This competition will be taking place on the 6th of November, at the YMCA Upper Hutt.

Gear Requirements

Whites: 350N Plastrons, 350N Fencing Jackets, and 350N Fencing Gloves & Breeches with Long Socks are required for Epee. Track pants for Foil – No Bare Skin will be allowed at all.
Mask: Masks must have 350N Foil Bibs, Head Wires and Safety Straps.
Weapons: U13 – Size 3 and smaller, U11 Size 2 and smaller
Lames must be in working condition & chest plates MUST be worn.

Entry Requirements

Entry fee: $20.00 for one event, $30.00 for 2+ events.
Entries are due by Friday 4th November. Late entries will not be accepted.
All entries must be made via the official entry form below, with entries made by email not accepted.

Anyone that can give up a few hours to help setup on Friday after 3pm at Wellington High would be appreciated. We need about 4 club members

Weapons control places are URGENTLY needed to be filled on FRIDAY EVENING

Weapons Control on Saturday Morning and afternoon

Weapons Control on Sunday Morning till 11.30am

Café running on Sunday Morning 8.00am till 12.00 noon and 12.00 noon till 4.000pm

Up Coming Fencing Competitions

North Island Championship

We have the North Island Championships coming up soon in June. This competition would be suitable for our older fencers who have been fencing a while and are quite confident with their fencing. This is because this is one of the National Tournaments.

Under 11 & Under 13 #2 Competition

Hopefully you have just seen my email about the North Island Championships. For our U13 club members, we do have a competition coming up in June as well. It will take place on Sunday the 12th of June.

The Central U11 & U13 #2 competition info can be found here. This is being hosted by one of the other Wellington regional fencing clubs Wellington Swords at their Brooklyn Club Rooms. This competition will be suitable for all of our fencers that are over the age of 7.

Central Championship

We are hosting the upcoming fencing Championship on the 28th and 29th of May. The details are as follows.

Date: Saturday 28th May to Sunday 29th May
Venue: River Gym, Upper Hutt College, 57 Moonshine Road, Upper Hutt
Entries Due: Thursday 26th May. Entries received after this date will attract a $20.00 late fee.

  • Jacket: Jacket & Plastron 1150N total 
  • Plastron: Jacket & Plastron 1150N total 
  • Breeches: 350N 
  • Masks: 350N 
  • Weapons: FIE / S2000  

Central Secondary School Novice Tournament

We have approached a couple of our fencers that this may be relevant to participate in but in case we haven’t got to you yet we have a fencing competition for our Novice High School fencers coming up next Sunday, the 8th of May.

The criteria for this fencing competition is for  any fencer who is year 7 to 13 at school with less than 24 months cumulative experience in fencing. For registration and competition details, please click here

Please note that months spent in lock down do not count. i.e. Those who began fencing in 2020 and 2021 before lockdowns do not need to count the months spent in isolation while being enrolled during level 4 and 3 lockdowns. 

Please note the gear requirements for this competition are:

  • 350N plastrons 
  • 350N jackets 
  • 350N gloves 
  • Chest protector
  • Breeches with long socks are required for Epee and track pants will be permitted for Foil
  • 350N Masks with a Foil bib for foil along with head wires and safety straps. 350N epee masks are required
