There have been 2 national events announced over the last week. The North Island Championships and the National Foil and Sabre Teams which are both being hosted here in Wellington. Please note that these competitions are for the Open age group so if you are under 15, please consult with your coach before entering.
North Island Championships
Fencing New Zealand and Fencing Central invite you to attend the 2021 New Zealand North Island and Veteran’s Foil Championships.
There are two secondary school championships that are coming up over the next two weekends. There is the Central Secondary School Individual Championships as well as the Teams Championships. The details are listed below.
Set Up for 19th and 20th of June
Please note, we are hosting the Secondary School Teams Championships so we will need some volunteers to help set up and pack down on the 19th and 20th June.
Times We Require Help
Saturday 19th of June, Set up – 12pm
Sunday 20th of June, Pack down – 1pm aprx*
*On completion of the foil event
All help will be much appreciated. More hands make for much lighter work.

Wellington Swords Club and Fencing Central invite you to attend the 2021 Fencing Central Secondary School Individual Championships.
Date: Saturday, 12th and Sunday, 13th June 2021 Venue: Rongotai College Main Hall, 170 Coutts Street, Rongotai, Wellington Entries due: Thursday, 10th June 2021 – Late entries will incur a late fee Entry fee: $40.00 for one weapon, $50.00 for 2+ weapon
First of all I would like to begin by thanking all of our volunteers for helping over the weekend of the competition. We ran an exceptionally successful weapons control and café this year and everyone who was a part of it should be especially proud.
Thank you Bordeaux Bakery
A big thank you goes to the team at Bordeaux Bakery for supplying a large amount of the delicious baked goods that we had on offer. They supplied us many different treats such as a large variety of Danish’s, brownies, rolls and croissants. If you are ever craving these treats again, I know I am, they can be located either on Thorndon Quay or at the Lower Hutt morning market on Saturdays. Over the weekend we had two of our fencers take part in the competition, Marianna Wang and Ellen Li. Both of these ladies competed in both the U15 and Cadets Women’s events. Their placing over the competition were:
We have managed to book in an alternative venue for our Saturday class on the 8th and 29th of May 9th and the 19th of June. As mentioned in a prior post, we were unfortunately unable to use the St Bernard’s hall on these dates so we have had to seek out an alternative venue. We will be using Moera Community Hall for training in lieu.
